Sheldon Iowa — The West Lyon Baseball team rolled to a 14-1 win over Sheldon at Orab Field Friday night. With the win the Wildcats run their season record to 16-0 and 8-0 in the Siouxland Conference.

The offense was hot from the beginning with an 8 run first inning. Highlights included a 2 run single by Jaden Snyder and rbi singles from Monte Pottebaum, Mitchell Rentschler. Korbyn Gramstad drove in a run with a sac fly.
Three more came across in the third inning with Josh Van Beek driving in a pair with a single and Pottebaum delivered another rbi single for the wildcats.
Sheldon scored in the bottom of the inning as Hunter Lang walked and eventually scored from third on a ground ball to the infield.
The Wildcats plated two more in the 4th and a run in the 5th to make the final 14-1.
Josh Van Beek got the win. He gave up just 1 hit and struck out 5. Luke Van Beek took the loss for the Orabs. He gave up 6 hits in the contest before turning it over to Brennan Radke in the 4th inning.
With the win West Lyon is 16-0 on the year and 9-0 in the conference the Orabs are 5-6 on the season and 4-5 in the conference. Both teams have the weekend off. Sheldon returns to action Monday afternoon hosting George Little Rock. With varsity only first pitch is scheduled for 5:30. West Lyon is also back in action Monday. They will host Okoboji.
Stat of the day: West Lyon has outscored their opponents 236 to 24 so far this season. The Wildcats are ranked number 5 in the latest 2A baseball poll.
