Western Christian advanced to the Class 2A semifinal round of the state volleyball tournament.
In set 1, Western Christian started out shaky with attack and service errors as South Hardin was the first to ten. Western was able to find their footing and took a 15-12 lead. The Tigers rallied back to within one point at 19-18, still in favor of the Wolfpack. Western got back into the groove and came away with the set win 25-19.
Western started out hot in the second set and was the first to ten at 10-4. South Hardin was able to take advantage of some errors and pulled to within 11-9. South Hardin continued to battle and took a 18-13 lead. Western responded with 10-1 run to take a 23-19 lead. South Hardin then tied the game up at 23-23 with a 4-0 run. The set went into extra points and the Tigers came away with the 27-25 set win to tie the game up at 1-1.
Western stormed out of the gate in the third set, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. The Wolfpack was the first to ten and had an 11-5 lead. Western pushed that lead to 20-9, and Western cruised to a 25-12 set three win
Western continued where they left off in set 4, starting with a 7-0 run, and was the first to ten at 10-3. Western pulled out to a 15-5 lead, 20-6, and went on to win 25-10
Western improves to 33-9, and will play Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
