Worthington, Minnesota — Western Christian began the post holiday schedule with a trip to Worthington and came back with a sweep as the girls won 76-63 while the boys posted a 94-44 win.
In the girls game the first 18 minutes belonged to Worthington as the Trojans led 37-33. Western took control in the second half to post the 76-63 win. Western put three players in double figures led by Stella Winterfeld with a 22 point night. Lydia Van Kley hit for 15 and Shayla VanBeek added 14. Worthington had three players in double figures as well getting a game high 24 from Tarren Spartz. She was joined by Olivia Hayenga with 20 and Ellie Weg with 12.
With the win the Wolfpack are 3-6. Worthington falls to 6-4. Next up for Western will be a home conference double header with Storm Lake.
In the boys game Western took control early and never looked back. The Wolfpack was up 57-22 at the half and rolled to a 94-44 win. Wyatt Gaulker led the offense with 19 points. Chandler Pollema was in double figures with 11. Ty Van Essen added 10. Levi Jansma, Kayden Van Regenmorter and his brother Tate Van Regenmorter were just out of double figures with 9 points each. All told everyone on the roster saw court time with 11 finding a spot in the scorebook. Worthington got a game high 25 points from Jacari Swinea.
With the win the Wolfpack are 7-1 on the year while the Trojans stand at 1-6. Next action for the Wolfpack comes on Friday as the second half of a home double header against Storm Lake.
