Wolfpack Get Hard Fought Win At Sioux Falls Christian

Sioux Falls, South Dakota — The Western Christian boys won their 20 game of the season in a hard fought 67-59 win over Sioux Falls Christian Thursday night in Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls Christian started the game off hot but Western Christian would keep pace in the first quarter. After one, the Chargers had a 17-14 lead over the Wolfpack. Both team continued to go shot for shot in the second quarter and the game would be tied at 36-36 heading into the intermission. With the game tied at 40-40, Western’s Coach Keizer would call timeout and the Western defense came away with several takeaways to give Western the 56-46 lead at the end of the third, capped off by a Kaden Van Regenmorter three pointer at the buzzer. The Wolfpack would lead by as much as 14 in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers would go on a 7-0 run and chip away at the lead the rest of the way but could never get the lead from Western. The Wolfpack hit key free throws down the stretch and came away with the 67-59 win.

Western got a game high 18 from Ty Van Essen, 17 points from Wyatt Gulker, and 13 points from Van Regenmorter. Sioux Falls Christian got a team high 16 points from Nathan Koole, thirteen points from Logan Schipper, and 12 points from Ethan Bruns.

With the win, Western improves to 20-1 on the year. Sioux Falls Christian falls to 9-7 on the season.

Up next the Wolfpack will play the winner of East Sac County and Ridge View at Western on Thursday the 17th to open tournament play.
