Hull, Iowa – The Western Christian Wolfpack split a non-conference battle in Hull Tuesday night. The SBL girls used a big third quarter to win 61-27, and the Western boys survived a barrage of three pointers in the fourth to get the win 65-59.
The Warrior girls jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead and had a 19-6 lead after one. Western Christian would use a late 7-0 in the second quarter to pull within 27-16 at the half. Then SBL scored 22 points in the 3rd to Western’s 6 and rolled to a 61-27 win.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton got a game high 24 points from Payton Hardy and 11 points from Nyarial Lul. Western got a team high 9 points from Taylor Statema.
With the win, SBL improves to 7-0 on the year. Western falls to 2-6 on the season.
It was a tight game in the boys game in the first quarter until Western went on 9-0 run and took a 16-9 lead into the second quarter. Western went on an 8-0 run in the second and took a 35-26 lead into halftime. Western pulled away in the third 54-38 heading into the fourth. SBL then hit four quick three pointers to get the Warriors to within 6, but could never get any closer. Western got the win 65-59.
Western got a team high 18 from Ty Van Essen. Tate Van Regenmorter added 11 and Eli Van Essen put in 10. SBL got a game high 20 points from Tyler Smith and Scott Kroll.
With the win Western improves to 6-1 on the season and Sergeant Bluff-Luton falls 2-5 .
