Wynja Joins Dordt Volleyball

Tori Wynja, a senior at Western Christian High School, has announced her intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender volleyball program.

“I chose Dordt University for its strong volleyball tradition, great coaching staff and Christian atmosphere,” said Wynja.

Wynja is a 5-10 right side hitter/setter who was a key part of Western’s 2018 team that won a Class 2A state title and is currently ranked no. 1 in Class 2A. She is averaging 2.18 kills per set with a .284 kill efficiency and she has a 3.48 digs per set average along with 25 ace serves. Last season she had a 1.88 kills per set average with 2.81 digs and she averaged 4.1 assists per set as Western posted a 45-5 record. Wynja was a third-team all-state pick and a first-team all-conference selection in 2018.

“We are really excited that Tori has chosen to continue her college career as a Defender. She will bring a strong attack swing and an all-around six rotation game into our program. We are grateful for her development through Coach Tammi Veerbeek at Western Christian. Tori is a great fit for our campus community as she seeks to grow in the Lord and excel in all areas of her life,” said Dordt coach Chad Hanson.

Tori is the daughter of Scott and Melanie Wynja of Sioux Center, Iowa.
