Crete, Nebraska — Emma Wynja claimed medalist honors in leading the Northwestern College women’s golf team to a first place finish at Tuesday’s Doane / Kaitlyn Erickson Invite held at the Pioneers Golf Course.
Northwestern fired a 353 this afternoon in the cold, windy conditions and finished one shot better than second place York College. Mount Marty was third (357) while the host Tigers were fourth (392).
Wynja shot an 83 (+11) and won by two strokes over Sara Skorheim (Mount Marty). This was the first time Wynja claimed medalist honors and was her fourth career top-five finish and sixth top 10.
Four Raider golfers placed in the top 10 overall; Morgan Roberts and Taylor Van Ostrand both turned in their best career finish, tying for seventh place with an 89. Abby Vander Laan carded a season-best 92, good for a career-best finish of 10th place. Brialle Koerselman (T18 – 104) and Meredith Hochstetler (T25th – 113) round out the Northwestern scores.
