UPDATE WITH CONDITION REPORT: Sheldon Teen Injured In Accident Near Allendorf

Allendorf, Iowa — We have now received an update on the condition of the Sheldon teen injured in a traffic crash near Allendorf Friday evening.

Osceola County authorities say 16-year old Mary Margaret Borer, of Sheldon, was taken by ambulance to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley Friday evening after a car she was driving collided with a semi at the intersection of Highway 60 and 170th Street near Allendorf Friday evening.

Authorities had originally said that Borer was taken to the hospital with “incapacitating injuries.”

KIWA spoke with Mary Margaret’s mother, Jo Borer, early Monday afternoon, and she tells us their family is feeling very blessed, since Mary Margaret’s injuries ended up amounting to some abrasions on her forehead. According to her mother, Mary Margaret is back in school as of Monday.

Allendorf, Iowa — A Sheldon teen was taken to a hospital after a crash near Allendorf on Friday night, December 15th, 2017.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 9:30 p.m., Mitchell Anton Wilson was driving a 2003 Peterbilt semi southbound on Highway 59. They say 16-year-old Mary Margaret Borer of Sheldon was driving a 2011 Chevy Cruze registered to Josephine Borer of Sheldon, eastbound on A22 (also known as 170th Street).

As the Wilson vehicle was traveling through the intersection, the Sheriff’s Office says the Borer vehicle began to go through the intersection and collided with the semi.

The Sibley Ambulance took Borer, who the sheriff’s office says sustained incapacitating injuries, to the Osceola Community Hospital. They say Wilson was not injured.

The Peterbilt sustained about $10,000 in damage and the Chevy Cruze sustained about $20,000 in damage, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

They tell us the Sibley Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
