Accused Le Mars Bank Robber Enters Not Guilty Plea

Le Mars, Iowa — The Sioux City man accused of robbing the Iowa State Bank in Le Mars on December 12th, before fleeing in a rental truck, entered a not guilty plea Monday.

Phillip White entered a written plea of Not Guilty during his arraignment Monday in Plymouth County. He is charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Theft, and Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony, all three of which are Class C Felonies, according to online court records. No further court dates have been set in the case.

On December 12th, Le Mars Police say a man entered the Iowa State Bank branch in Le Mars and committed a robbery. Following the robbery, police say the robber, who they identified as 32-year old Phillip White, along with a female later identified by police as 35-year old Karen Merrick of Sioux City, fled in a U-Haul rental truck. The truck was pursued by law enforcement from several agencies before being stopped, at which time White and Merrick were placed under arrest.

Police say an undisclosed amount of money was recovered from the U-Haul truck after the pair were arrested.
