Fire Destroys Pickup Near Archer

Archer, Iowa– A pickup was destroyed in a fire earlier this week near Archer.

According to Archer Fire Chief Don De Boer, the Archer Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle on fire at 380th Street and Oriole Avenue, about a mile south of Archer.

The chief says the fire department saw the Chevy S10 pickup fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.

De Boer says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined but it appeared to be a result of engine failure.

Chief De Boer reports that the mid-90’s pickup was totaled in the blaze.

He says they used about 300 gallons of water to fight the fire, and the eight firefighters who responded were on scene for about 45 minutes.
