Man Arrested After Assault On Deputy In George

George, Iowa — One man was arrested and taken to a hospital after an altercation in George on Friday.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly before 12:30 p.m., their deputies were called to George to investigate a report of three males throwing rocks and pumpkins at passing cars. When deputies arrived the suspects had left the area.

But deputies were able to find them at 219 East Iowa Avenue in George in a garage. During the course of the investigation, a deputy was assaulted with fists and a chair. Deputies deployed a Taser to take one subject into custody.

As a result, they report that 18-year-old Four Lewi was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol under 21, a simple misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; and assault on a police officer, a serious misdemeanor.

They tell us that Lewi was transported to Sanford Rock Rapids Hospital by a Lyon County Deputy for Taser barb removal and to be medically cleared. There were no injuries to either party. Deputies report that George Emergency Medical Service assisted on the scene.
