Paullina Man Injured When Motorcycle Strikes Deer

Sibley, Iowa — A Paullina man was injured Friday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a deer south of Sibley.

Osceola County authorities say the mishap occurred shortly before 5:00 Friday afternoon when a 2003 Harley-Davidson, driven by 41-year-old Kelly James Top of Paullina was westbound on L40, south of Sibley, when a deer ran across the road. Deputies say Top struck the deer and lost control of the motorcycle, skidding approximately 50 feet.

Top was transported by the Sibley Ambulance to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley with what are described as incapacitating injuries.

Damage to Top’s Harley were estimated at approximately $10,000.

The Sibley Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
