Rock Valley Teen Injured In Tuesday Morning Crash

Rock Valley — A Rock Valley teen was injured in a two-vehicle crash north of Rock Valley early Tuesday morning.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened shortly after 6:30 Tuesday morning when a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 14-year-old Jaiden Groeneweg of Rock Valley was westbound on 290th Street. Deputies say a 2012 Dodge Ram, driven by 21-year-old Mariela Gonzalez of Rock Valley entered the intersection, where it collided with Groeneweg’s Chevy.

Authorities say Groeneweg was transported by the Rock Valley Ambulance to Hegg Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Groeneweg’s Chevrolet sustained approximately $4,500 in damage, with Gonzalez’ pickup sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

Groeneweg was cited for failing to obey a stop sign.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance.
