Rural Hull Dog Shed Destroyed In Fire

Hull, Iowa– A small shed was destroyed in a fire on Friday morning, February 8, 2019, near Hull.

According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 6:30 a.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a doghouse on fire close to a garage at 3560 300th Street, two miles east of Hull, two miles north, and another half mile east.

The chief says the fire department saw the 4’x 8′ shed fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Van Roekel says no injuries were reported, and the dog was fine.

The Rock Valley Fire Department gets called to all structure fires in Hull, but when firefighters arrived, they called Rock Valley to tell them their help wouldn’t be needed.

The chief says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Roekel reports that the shed, which basically functioned only as a doghouse, was totaled in the blaze.

He says they responded with one truck and were on scene for only about 15 minutes.
