Sioux Falls Man Jailed On Felony OWI Charge

Larchwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man is behind bars in Rock Rapids after he was arrested on a felony charge near the state line on Saturday morning.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday, January 19th, 2019, one of their deputies made contact with a stalled vehicle on the roadway in the 1000 block of Highway 9. That’s the first mile south of the South Dakota state line, in the same mile as Grand Falls Casino.

The sheriff’s office says that after the deputy made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy suspected alcohol to be a factor. As a result of the investigation, the driver, 33-year-old Hari Karki of Sioux Falls was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Third or Subsequent Offense, a Class D Felony.

In addition, the deputy also charged Karki with driving without a license, open container, and parking in the traveled portion of a roadway, which are all simple misdemeanors.

The sheriff’s office says Karki was transported to and was lodged in the Lyon County Jail, where at last report he remained.
