Two Taken To Hospitals In Aftermath Of Six-Vehicle Accident

Sanborn, Iowa — Two people were taken to hospitals, and one of them was later flown to a Sioux Falls hospital in the aftermath of a six-vehicle chain-reaction crash near Sanborn on Monday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol has not released full details of the accident, but what is known is that about 8:00 a.m., a straight truck owned by Sanborn Propane, and driven by 37-year-old Jared Foster was westbound on Highway 18 on the east edge of Sanborn. The trooper says the truck failed to slow or stop before making contact with the last vehicle in the line stopped for construction. That collision started a chain reaction that involved six vehicles in total.

The report says 66-year-old Nancy Peck was transported by ground ambulance to Sanford Sheldon and was later airlifted to Sanford Sioux Falls. It also says 32-year-old Colby Vetter was transported by ground ambulance to Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar. Vetter was treated and released.

No other injuries were reported. In order, the vehicles involved were the Sanborn Propane truck, a 2017 GMC Sierra driven by Vetter, a 2011 Jeep Patriot driven by Peck, a 2013 Mercedes van driven by 68-year-old Robert Bringle, a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica driven by 41-year-old Sarah Pals, and a 2017 Ford F150 pickup, driven by 33-year-old Ashley Sandersfeld.
