Blood Donors Needed At 1st CRC In Rock Valley On Friday

Rock Valley, Iowa — The Community Blood Bank is doing a number of blood drives in northwest Iowa this month, which just happens to be National Blood Donor Month.

Ken VerSteeg, the Executive Director of the Community Blood Bank tells us that in addition to their blood drives for the public, they also do drives that are meant for a single bigger employer or other more private groups.

He says there are three blood drives that they want to promote to the public this month, and they are a drive on the 11th in Rock Valley, one on the 16th in Rock Rapids, and one in Sibley on the 23rd. In addition, they will be at employers in Rock Rapids and Larchwood and an institution in Sheldon this month as well. VerSteeg tells us about the first drive, coming up this Friday.

He says the need for blood is pretty high in the winter.

According to VerSteeg, they are a major blood supplier for northwest Iowa.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good general health. They’d also like you to have a form of ID on you, a list of any medications you are on, and a list of any countries and/or cities you have visited outside of the United States in the last three years.
