Boyden Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Blue Ambulance_SVAHull, Iowa — A Boyden teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2017.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 4:00 p.m., 17-year-old Jaycee Darnell of Boyden was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on 310th Street at the north junction of Highway 75 and Highway 18, three miles northwest of Hull. They report that 77-year-old Elmer Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD was driving a 2000 Ford pickup northbound on Highway 75.

The report says Darnell drove east from the stop sign at Highway 75 and struck Peterson in the intersection. Peterson’s vehicle left the roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a Premier Communications utility junction box.

The Hull Ambulance took Darnell to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Darnell’s Mitsubishi sustained about $3,000 in damage, according to the sheriff’s office. They report the Peterson Ford pickup sustained about $4,000 in damage, and the utility box sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Hull Ambulance crew and Hull Fire Department assisted them with the response to the accident.
