Hartley Man Faces Felony Charge After Accident

Hand Cuffs sxcSpencer, Iowa — A Hartley man has turned himself in at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in Spencer, where he faces felony OWI charges after an accident.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 50-year-old Daniel Hinrichs of Hartley at the Clay County Jail in Spencer.

The arrest stems from the investigation of an accident on January 1st.

Clay County Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle rollover at 1280 280th Street. When they got there, deputies found a silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in the ditch. The Grand Am matched the description of a previous reckless driver complaint.

Spencer and Everly Paramedics transported Hinrichs to the Spencer Hosptial.

Hinrichs is charged with OWI 3rd Offense (which is a felony), Failure to Maintain Control, Drving While Suspended, Driving While Revoked, Use of a Electronic Communication Device While Driving-Texting.

According to court records, Hinrichs faces an initial court appearance this Wednesday, February 8th, with a hearing on Monday, February 13th.
