Hartley Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Hartley, Iowa– A Hartley woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Hartley.

The Sanborn Police Department, which is handling some shifts for the Hartley department while the Hartley department is short an officer, reports that about 8:20 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2016, 59-year-old Michele Sayre of Hartley was driving a 2002 Pontiac southbound on Walnut Street. Twenty-seven year-old Katie Paulus of Hartley was westbound on 330th Street in a 2014 Chevy.

The report says that Sayre stopped momentarily at the stop sign and then started a turn to travel eastbound on 330th Street. It says she struck the Paulus vehicle in the passenger side wheel well area, sending the vehicle into the south ditch.

The Hartley Ambulance took Sayre to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Sayre was charged with a stop sign violation for failure to yield after the stop.

The Sanborn Police Department was assisted by Hartley Fire Department and Hartley Ambulance.
