Ireton Man Injured After Hitting Cow

cow cattle black white faceSioux Center, Iowa — An Ireton man was injured after he struck a cow near Sioux Center in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 7th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 3:37 am on Thursday, 61-year-old Robert Vanderplas of Ireton was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup southbound on Eagle Avenue, six miles west of Sioux Center. According to the report, Vanderplas struck a black cow on the roadway.

The Dodge received $5,500 damage.

Vanderplas reported minor injuries, but refused further medical attention.
