Car Destroyed In Fire Near Rock Valley

Rock Valley, Iowa — A car was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 near Rock Valley.

According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, about 10:10 AM, the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to the report of a car fire at Highway 18 and Garfield Avenue, two and a half miles east of Rock Valley.

The chief says the fire department saw the engine compartment fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Eshuis says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Eshuis reports that the 2003 Pontiac Bonneville was totaled in the blaze.

He says they used 400 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene 25 minutes.
