Northwest Iowa — A pair of area communities have celebrations scheduled for this weekend. In Paullina, GemBoree Days runs Friday and Saturday, while in Boyden, Boyden Bash 2017 also runs from Friday through Sunday.
In Paullina, Main Street will close at 3:00 Friday afternoon for Paullina GemBoree. There will be a Slow Pitch Softball Tournament at the Paullina City Park starting at 6:00 Friday evening. From 9:00 to 1:00 is the Street Dance, Featuring 35th and Taylor, located on Main Street. At 9:30 Friday night will be the Truck Light Show at the Paullina Airport.
Saturday in Paullina includes the Paullina Firemen’s Rib Cook-Off, a Truck Show, Jake Brake Contest, Kiddie Parade, Main Parade, Wine and Beer Tasting, entertainment and food, a Sanctioned Pedal Pull, and Fireworks over Paullina Lake.

In Boyden, Boyden Bash kicks off Friday with a 2-person best ball golf tournament. They’ll have a ferris wheel and train rides, inflatables, evening meal, dessert auction, glow in the park, and an outdoor family movie.
Boyden Bash continues Saturday with a bean bag challenge, Kiddie Parade, Cook-Off, Magic Show, Mini Tractor Pull, Photo Booth, inflatables, Spot Shot Contest, and Creative Spirits Painting.
Sunday’s Boyden Bash activities include a Frisbee Golf Tournament, Community Worship Service, and an Omelet Brunch at the Demco Center.
