Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden manufacturer has announced the completion of the acquisition of a Spencer manufacturer.
Dethmers Manufacturing, known as “Demco” and a group of investors actually acquired Maurer Manufacturing from Bob & Peg Maurer fifteen years ago, according to Demco officials. They say that at that time Lakes Enterprises was formed and operated with the brand name of Maurer Manufacturing. Since that time, they say Demco and Maurer each operated as separate companies with individual management teams for either company, while at the same time sharing many resources between the companies when possible.
Now Demco officials tell us Demco has acquired the balance of the stock of Maurer Manufacturing from Lakes Enterprises. That means Demco has now purchased Maurer Manufacturing in its entirety.
Demco says they will continue to operate the manufacturing facility in Boyden and the Maurer Manufacturing facility in Spencer.
The corporate identity of the company will be Demco, but company officials say that each product will remain branded with the name under which they have been developed and marketed over the years. Maurer products will continue to be marketed under the Maurer brand and Demco products will continue to be marketed under the Demco brand.
Some of Demco’s products include sprayers, gravity flow wagons, hydraulic surge brake actuators, Kar Kaddy tow dollies, auto transport trailers to the national rental industry, and more. Maurer products include combine grain tank extensions, combine header transports, semi hopper bottom grain trailers, semi drop deck trailers, and different kinds of scrap recycling trailers.
