Emmetsburg Man Seeks Republican Nomination To Face Johnson For Iowa Senate Seat

Northwest Iowa — An Emmetsburg businessman has thrown his hat into the ring, seeking the Republican nomination in Iowa Senate District 1, the seat currently occupied by Ocheyedan independent, David Johnson.

Jesse Wolfe of Emmetsburg is seeking to unseat Senator Johnson, who represented northwest Iowa for several years as a Republican, until the summer of 2016 when changed his registration to Independent in protest of then Republican Presidential-Nominee Donald Trump. Wolfe says Johnson’s change of affiliation is one of the big reasons he decided to run for the seat.

Wolfe says the citizens in the 1st Senate District deserve representation.

Wolfe says he is a rock-solid conservative Republican.

Wolfe and his wife, Janice, have been married for 33-years and are the parents of four children. Their sons, Jesse and Josh, are surgical residents in foot and ankle surgery. Their daughters Jean, a nurse, and Jenna, who’s a senior at Iowa State University, where she’ll receive dual degrees in Accounting and Finance this May.

Wolfe is Chair of the Palo Alto County Republican Central Committee, and Chairman of the 4th Congressional District Executive Committee.
