Group Seeks To Make 71 Through IGL More ‘Picturesque’

Dickinson County, Iowa — A group of lakes area residents has plans to spruce up the area leading into Iowa’s Great Lakes.

Members of Imagine Iowa Great Lakes are focused on improving the Highway 71 corridor from Milford to Spirit Lake. They want to plant trees, shrubs, and flowers and install fencing along the road that runs through the center of East and West Lake Okoboji. Jill Harms is serving as a spokesperson for the group.

Earlier this month, Imagine Iowa Great Lakes won a $1.1 million bid on Okoboji Middle School in Arnolds Park. The school is located along Highway 71. Harms says development plans for the middle school should be completed by the end of the year.
