According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 1:30 PM, the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a structure fire on Alan Bakker’s place at 3046 310th Street, a half a mile west of Highway 75 on Highway 18, north of Perkins.

The chief says the fire department saw heavy smoke coming out of a shed as they approached the scene. He says they used water to extinguish the fire, which was basically confined to some round bales in the building.

Chief Van Roekel reports that the bales were lost, but there was no damage to the building to speak of, and they were able to get the machinery out of the building before it was able to catch on fire.

He says the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Van Roekel reports that there were no injuries to people, pets, or livestock.

The fire department was assisted by the Rock Valley Fire Department.

The chief says they used about 2000 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about an hour and a half.
