Hull Teen Taken To Hospital After Moped Accident

Hull, Iowa — A Hull teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Friday (11/2) in Hull.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9:40 PM, 16-year-old Luke Barkel of Hull was driving a 2012 Taotao moped eastbound on 1st Street when he lost control and collided with a parked 2009 Cadillac Escalade.

Barkel was later taken to the Sioux Center Hospital by private vehicle where he was treated for his injuries.

The Taotao sustained about $300 in damages. The Cadillac, owned by Matthew Mayer of Spirit Lake, sustained about $350 in damages.

Barkel was cited for no insurance, violation of an instruction permit and fail to maintain control.
