Hull, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has died as the result of a crash southwest of Hull on Friday, February 26th, 2016.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:55 AM, 56-year-old James Waldner of Rock Rapids was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on Highway 75, three miles southwest of Hull. They report that 63-year-old Lynn Bleeker of Sioux Center was driving a 2013 Dodge Journey northbound on Highway 75.
The report says Waldner passed a southbound semi‐truck and trailer and struck Bleeker’s vehicle head‐on.
Waldner and Bleeker were each trapped in their vehicles and required extrication by the Hull Fire Department.
The Hull Ambulance took Waldner and Bleeker to the Sioux Center Health Hospital. Waldner was pronounced dead by the Sioux County Medical Examiner. Bleeker was airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD for treatment of serious injuries.
The Jeep and Dodge sustained approximately $15,000 in damage, each.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Iowa State Patrol, Hull Ambulance crew, Hull Fire Department and the Sioux
Center Ambulance crew assisted them.
