Boyden Man Wins $50K In Powerball

Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden man is $50,000 richer — the winner of one of the lesser Powerball prizes.

The Iowa Lottery reports that Leroy Rohlfs of Boyden picked up the winning ticket at the local Pit Row convenience store in Boyden. Lottery officials report Rohlfs was only one number away from winning the jackpot. They report he matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball to win the prize in the February 20th drawing.

The jackpot that night was $212 million, and no one matched all five white balls and the Powerball, so there was no jackpot winner. Lottery statistics indicate 28 other tickets in the United States also matched four white balls and the Powerball and won $50,000.

Rohlfs went to the lottery’s regional office in Storm Lake on Thursday to pick up his prize.
