Ocheyedan Celebrates 125 Years

Ocheyedan, Iowa — Ocheyedan is 125 years old, and its residents are celebrating.

This Friday, August 12th, at the 125th Anniversary celebration in Ocheyedan, there will be kids archery at the Ocheyedan City Park at 4 p.m. The kiddie parade, with the theme “Hometown Heroes” will begin at the CRC parking lot at 6 p.m. After the parade, there will be hot dogs and root beer floats at the city park. A magician will do some tricks starting at at 7:30, sponsored by Ocheyedan Library, Thivent Financial, and the Catfish Club.

The Great Plains Tractor Pullers will have a tractor pull on north Main Street at 6:30, sponsored by the Ocheyedan Fire Department. Karaoke at the Corner Club runs from 9 to 1.

And there will be fireworks over the Ocheyedan Mound at 10 p.m., sponsored by the Ocheyedan Quasquicentennial Committee.
