Sioux Center, Iowa — City officials in Sioux Center are pleased that Highway 75 through that community is now on the Iowa Department of Transportation’s 5-year plan.
Sioux Center City Administrator Scott Wynja tells us about it.
He tells us what that means at this point for Sioux Center.
Wynja says that the idea is to make most of the highway through Sioux Center into a four-lane divided highway.
Wynja says they hope to get the best of both worlds, with the traffic throughput of several years ago when the highway was 4-lane undivided through town, but a safety factor similar to or better than what it is now. He says between 12 and 13-thousand vehicles use the road every day, with 15-thousand per day anticipated by 2025. Wynja tells us that they want to take traffic counts into account because the road will probably have to last for the next 30 to 50 years.
