Sheldon Firefighters Respond To Fire Call

Rome FireSheldon, Iowa — Sheldon firefighters were dispatched to a fire call on Wednesday morning, January 27th, 2016.

The page went out about 11:05 AM for a fire at 1427 Western Avenue. That’s the address of Rome, Ltd. on Sheldon’s west side. The fire was said to be in the machine shop welding area.

Responding to the call were the Sheldon Fire Company and Sheldon Police Department.

According to Fire Chief Jerry Meyer, a filter on an air handling system burned, and there was smoke in the building.

He says fire crews put out the fire with just a few gallons of water and ventilated the smoke with their fans.

Meyer says fire crews were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
