Sheldon Jazz Choir To Morningside Festival Monday

musicSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon High School Jazz Choir will be among several western Iowa vocal groups who will be traveling to Sioux City Monday to take part in the Morningside Vocal Jazz Festival.

Sheldon High School Vocal Music Instructor Brett Gregory tells KIWA that, while the event is called a festival, it’s really more of a clinic.

Gregory says this event offers an extended session in which the groups can receive feedback from the judges on their performance.

He says there’s also another added benefit for his students who are taking part in Monday’s festival.

Monday’s Morningside Vocal Jazz Festival will be held in Eppley Auditorium in Sioux City.  Sheldon’s Jazz Choir is scheduled for warm-ups Monday morning at 8:30, with their performance scheduled for 9:00 am.

Other jazz choirs taking part include:  Lawton-Bronson, Spencer, Spirit Lake, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, Treynor, Emmetsburg, Algona, Storm Lake, Maple Valley-Anthon Oto, Waukee, Council Bluffs Lewis Central, and Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson.
