Sheldon Pair Arrested For Forgery, Theft

Sheldon, Iowa — A pair of Sheldon residents were arrested yesterday (Monday, May 15th) on felony Forgery, and other charges, by the Sheldon Police Department.

Sheldon Police Chief Lyle Bolkema says the charges against 33-year old Brian Lee Andrew, Jr., and 31-year old Melissa Lori Jones, both of Sheldon, stem from the investigation into a reported theft from Andrew’s employer.

Bolkema says Andrew was the Apartment Manager of the North Park Apartments in Sheldon.  The Chief says that a resident of the one of the apartments paid their rent to Andrew with a money order.  Bolkema says the amount of the money order was filled out, but the “payable to” line was left blank.  Authorities allege that Andrew, along with Jones, who Bolkema describes as Andrew’s “significant other”, then cashed and used the money order for their own personal use.

Authorities say the charges against Andrew include Felony Forgery, False Report To Public Entity, a Simple Misdemeanor, and 3rd Degree Theft, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  Jones is charged with Felony Forgery and 3rd Degree Theft in connection with the incident.

The pair were transported to the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar.
