Sioux Falls Man Faces Multiple Charges In Paullina Case

Paullina, Iowa — An 18-year old Sioux Falls man faces a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges following his arrest on a warrant issued by the Paullina Police Department.

According to court records, the charges against Eric Martinez stem from an incident that allegedly took place earlier this month at a Paullina residence. Court records indicate the residents left their home on the morning of Friday, May 4th to go to Sioux Falls to visit an ill relative. According to the Criminal Complaint, they returned home early in the afternoon of May 7th only to discover that their 2004 Dodge Stratus automobile, along with several other items, were missing from their home.

Court records say that, following an investigation, warrants were issued for Martinez arrest, charging him with 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony, for the alleged theft of the car. He was also charged with 3rd Degree Theft, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, for the alleged theft of a 40-inch Samsung Smart TV, as well as clothing and blankets, and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief for allegedly knocking a hole in a bedroom wall of the residence.

According to the O’Brien County Jail booking log, Martinez was arrested Sunday afternoon on the warrants, and taken to jail.

Online court records indicate that Martinez made an initial court appearance in front of Magistrate Jeffrey Queck Monday morning (May 21st), where his preliminary Hearing was scheduled for 9:30 am June 5th.
