Rock Rapids, Iowa– A tractor was damaged in a fire on Friday, November 4, 2016 near Rock Rapids.
According to Rock Rapids Fire Chief Ed Reck, about 3:15 PM, the Rock Rapids Fire Department was called to the report of tractor on fire on the yard near the barn at the Ron Gruis farm at 1262 Harding Avenue, two and a half miles north of Rock Rapids.
The chief says the fire department saw the older Case tractor fully involved in flame. He says the back tires were on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.
Reck says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to have been an electrical malfunction in the cab of the tractor.
He says they used 300-500 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about a half hour.
