Woman Faces Felony Charge For Allegedly Passing Fraudulent Checks

Sheldon, Iowa — A Lakefield, Minnesota woman was arrested by O’Brien County deputies Tuesday (August 15th) on a warrant stemming from incidents in Sheldon earlier this year.

According to O’Brien County Jail booking records, 26-year old Ashley Jean Swanson of Lakefield, was picked up Tuesday afternoon on a warrant accusing her of Theft in the 2nd Degree, which is a Class “D” Felony.

Sheldon Police say the charge stems from incidents in March of this year, in which Swanson allegedly passed three fraudulent checks, totaling more than $1-thousand, at the Sheldon Hy-Vee store.

Online court records indicate that Swanson is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing at 9:30 am on Tuesday, August 29th.
