Cherokee Posts win Over Orab Softball Team

softballSheldon Iowa — Cherokee posted a 6-0 non conference softball win over Sheldon Tuesday night in Sheldon. Lindsey Williams went the distance for a 2 hit complete game shut  to get the win. Williams struck out 7 and walked just two. Nicole Johnson was tagged with the loss. She went the full seven as well giving up 12 hits while walking 4 and striking out 1.

The Braves scored three in the first inning. as Josie Kindwall, Lindsey Williams and Kamie Crum all reached and scored. Crum drove in a pair with single to center. Cherokee plated two more in the second inning as Kassidy Pingel singled and scored. Sarah Kach also reached and scored on a ball put in play by Apryl Mesler. The Braves wrapped up the scoring with a run in the 4th as   Pingel reached again and was driven in by Lilly Anderson’s rbi single. On the night Pingel went 4-for-4 with two runs scored.

Orab center fielder Alyssa Kavenagh had both of Sheldon’s hits in the ball game with a pair of singles from the number two spot in the batting order.

with the win Cherokee is even on the year at 11-11. Sheldon stands at 2-10. The Orabs are back in action Wednesday night hosting Okoboji. On Thursday it’s off to Ocheyedan for a make up game with Sibley Ocheyedan. That one will be varsity only with a 5:30 first pitch on Thursday night.
