Dordt Hosts Midland In GPAC Volleyball Semifinal

Dordt will host Midland on Wednesday, November 7 in the GPAC Semifinals.

Dordt has a 25-2 record this fall and finished 16-0 at the conclusion of the GPAC season. Dordt’s last loss was a 3-2 decision at Grand View on September 7.   Dordt’s other loss is a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rocky Mountain.

Ema Altena leads the team with a 3.99  kill average and she has a .277 kill efficiency while getting to 2.47 digs per set and she has 30 ace serves this year.  Leah Kamp is averaging 2.78 kills per set with a .314 kill efficiency while Ally Krommendyk’s average is 2.27 with a .287 efficiency. Krommendyk returned to play after a three and a half week absence due to injury and played in Dordt’s quarterfinal win over Concordia. Julia Lindbergh and Jessi De Jager are good for 2.00 and 1.77 kills per set and De Jager is on just under a block per set along with Kamp.  Krommendyk leads the team with 1.24 blocks per set.

Jamie De Jager is putting up 10.95 assists per set with 26 aces and 2.30 digs per outing.  She also has a 1.0 kills per set average. Hannah Connelly has 22 ace serves and Aubrey Drake has 17 aces and leads the team in digs with 5.27 per game. Dordt has a 136-94 service ace advantage and scores 2.51 points per set on blocks and opponents get 1.79.  Teams are averaging 9.58 kills against Dordt with a .108 efficiency.

Midland is 22-5 this season and 13-3 in the GPAC with losses in league play to Dordt, Northwestern and Hastings. Midland’s other two losses this season are to Viterbo and Grand View. Midland is 4-1 in their last five matches and lost to Hastings 3-1 in its regular season finale.

The Warriors average 13.09 kills per set with a .226 kill efficiency and they get 2.18 points per set on blocks. Priscilla O’Dowd leads the team with 3.28 kills per set and Janny Bair is good for 2.5 and Maggie Hiatt records 2.41.  Jessica Peters is putting up 10.45 assists per set and she also gets to 2.77 digs per outing. Kaitlynn Simon leads the team with 35 ace serves and Bair has 31. Jaisa Russell is getting to 3.30 digs per outing.

The winner of this match will play the Hastings-Northwestern winner on Saturday at 7:00. If Dordt prevails the Defenders will host, if Midland wins it would travel to the Northwestern-Hastings winner.
