Orab Girls Comeback Falls Short

Spirit Lake, Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs fell to Spirit Lake in a Girls Class 3A Region 1 quarterfinal Saturday night in Spirit Lake. The Indians took the game 47-44.

Sheldon and Spirit Lake were tied at 5-5 midway through the first quarter. The Indians then pulled away by five, but Sheldon battled back to tie the game back up at 10-10. After the first, the Orabs led 13-12. Sheldon held Spirit Lake to just one point for the first five minutes of the second stanza and pulled away by as much as ten. Spirit Lake then went on an 11-0 run, and the Indians led 24-23 heading into the break. Spirit Lake started the second half with a 7-0 run and after three, the Indians led 34-25. Sheldon was able to get to within three with two minutes to go in the contest, but Spirit Lake was able to run out the clock and come away with the 47-44 victory. 

Spirit Lake had a team high thirteen points from Jordyn Hamm. Sheldon got a game high seventeen points from Brooklyn Grady. 

Spirit Lake improves to 11-11 on the year. Sheldon ends their year at 5-17.

Up next for the Indians is a road trip to Sioux Center against Sioux Center on Wednesday, February 14th.
