Red Raiders Face No.7 Langston In FCS-Ist Round

Orange City, Iowa — No.10 Northwestern College will meet No.7 Langston (Okla.) in a NAIA Football Championship Series-1st Round match-up between top 10 teams this weekend. Kickoff at W.E. Anderson Stadium in Langston, Okla. is scheduled for 2pm. Northwestern is 9-1 on the season and Langston brings an unbeaten 10-0 record into Saturday’s game.

This is the 19th overall postseason appearance for the Red Raiders and first since the 2014 season. Northwestern also qualified in 1972, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1982-85, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2012-14. The Red Raiders have a 20-16 record in the postseason and are 13-5 in first round match-ups (note: the 1987 season was the first the NAIA went to a 16-team format for the championship; from 1978 – 1986, the NAIA had an 8-team championship field, prior to that, it was four-team championship; therefore, the 13-5 record in the first round accounts for the FIRST game played in the postseason by the Red Raiders, whether it be the round of 16, 8 for 4.) Northwestern has dropped three straight games in the postseason and last advanced out of the first round in 2006.
