Rock Valley Gets Home win Over Sheldon

Rock Valley Iowa — Rock Valley took the lead midway through the fourth quarter and went on to win 60-48 in boys basketball Thursday night.

The game was close until the midway point of the fourth quarter. That’s when the Rockets took the lead used tenacious defense to hold the Orabs to 5 points as they put up 18 points to get the win. Brayton Van Kekerix led all scorers with 17 points including 9 points in the fourth quarter when the Rockets made their move. He was joined in double figures by Freshman Bryson Van Grootheest with 11 points  and Colton Vonk with 10.

Sheldon had two players in double figures led by Tyler Lode with 12 points and Mitchel Wolf with 10. Sheldon led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter. It was tied at 23 at halftime. Wolf hit a left corner three with :05 seconds left that gave give Sheldon a 43-42 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Rockets took control in the fourth quarter as they got the win 60-48.

Rock Valley is off to a 3-0 start on the year and in the conference. Sheldon is 0-3 in the conference and on the season. Sheldon returns to action Friday night hosting Sibley Ocheyedan in girls and boys basketball. Rock Valley will be at home for a double header with West Lyon.
