Orange City, Iowa — After being recognized as the Small Business of the Week in August, Orange City Family Animal Care was given its award on Tuesday (September 23rd).
Iowa U.S. Senator Joni Ernst was on hand to present Dr. Laura Vander Stelt and staff with their Congressional Record of the honor. Vander Stelt purchased the companion animal portion of the clinic in 2023. Since the purchase, the clinic has expanded to a 10-person team and has opened a new facility in downtown Orange City (208 Albany Ave NE, Orange City, IA 51041).
To begin the ceremony portion of the event, Larry Wajda, Regional Director for the Iowa Small Business Development Center, mentions the importance of community support.
Mayor Deb De Haan was present for the presentation as well. She spoke about the downtown move for Orange City Family Animal Care.
Senator Ernst shares about her role in choosing small businesses and the influence that the clinic has had on the community.
Ernst mentions the impact that small businesses have on the Iowa economy and why this duty is important to her.
Senator Ernst, who’s been serving as U.S. Senator since 2015, announced on September 2nd that she would not be seeking re-election. However, she said that being part of the Senate Small Business Committee is something she will miss. She says the award for Orange City Family Animal Care will not soon be forgotten.
