IARN — While the 2020 Iowa State Fair is postponed until next August, many vendors and exhibitors are safely keeping their annual traditions alive. The Iowa Egg Council is one group planning to do just that with their healthy and delicious Egg-on-a-Stick!
Traditionally, the Egg-on-a-Stick can be found in the Agricultural Building during the Iowa State Fair. Last year in 2019, over 173,000 hard-boiled eggs were served! However, due to safety precautions, this year, the Iowa Egg Council has decided to hold a drive-thru event to continue serving what many consider to be a fair tradition.
Iowa Egg Council is planning on holding a few drive-thru Egg-on-a-Stick events in Des Moines and surrounding communities to reach as many hungry egg-lovers as possible. We hope to distribute as many as 5,000 eggs and have a goal to match the number of eggs distributed, within the community, with donations to local food banks or school programs. The Iowa Egg Council has had a long-standing partnership with the Food Bank of Iowa and recognizes the increasing importance of quality and nutritious donations.
Egg lovers can plan on receiving their annual Egg-on-a-Stick at:
Principal Park (enter off of SW 2nd St. & Line Drive), August 13 from 7:30am-9:30am.
Waukee (enter off of Warrior Lane & SE Park Dr.), August 14 from 9:00am-11:00am.
DMACC – Ankeny (enter lot L from Oralabor Road), August 15th 9:00am-11:00am.
Visitors never need to leave the safety of their car, and CDC guidelines will be encouraged and followed.
