September 9 A Path of Creation 10am-noon

Sioux County Conservation has the pleasure to host a unique program with two presenters, Naturalist Andrea Porter, and Michael Wanbdi Gdeska (Spotted Eagle). In a dual presentation they will connect the natural history of the Great Plains with cultural practices of Native Americans in this region.

Michael, a member of the Ihanktonwan Oyate (Yankton-Sioux) tribe, will share his experience from a Native American perspective in developing a spiritual relationship with all of creation. It will include the sacred ceremony of Azilya (smudging). He will use members of their plant nations and drumming songs during the ceremony.
