Sheldon Celebration Days

August 30 - September 2

Come to Sheldon, Iowa, for Sheldon’s Celebration Days from Friday, August 30 to Monday, September 2.

Free Entertainment in the Park includes:

– Mr. Twister from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. located near the inflateables.

– Kenny Ahren performing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Rosenboom stage located at the enclosed shelter house

– Brad Weston from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

– Poppa Bear Norton at about 3:30 p.m. at the Rosenboom stage near the shelter house

– Celebration Days Parade. Lineup begins at 1:00 p.m. with the parade begining at 2:00 p.m. For parade entry forms go to www.sheldoniowa.com

Friday, Aug. 30

The Johnny Holm Band: Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The concert runs from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Sheldon Crossroads Event Center.

Saturday, Aug. 31

Mini Rod Tractor Pulls from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 3110 Monroe Ave. (one mile north of Casey’s on Wash. Ave.) Bring your lawn chairs and be ready for lots of pulling excitement. For more information contact Brian Woelber at 712-348-0386

Bean Bag Tournament at 10:00 a.m. at the Sheldon City Park. It is for ages 10-and-up. All money raised will be donated to Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County.

BBQ Cookoff Contest from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sheldon City Park. Judging will take place at 4:00 p.m.

The Jay Shelp Community Theater at the Sheldon High School Auditorium. General Admission is $15. Join us at the Haunted Hill. It is a scream!

Sunday, Sept. 1

Community Worship Service at 10:00 a.m. at the Rise Fest Grounds. (Simlcast on KIWA FM 105.3 and the KIWA Facebook page). The rain location will be at First Reformed Church 1101 7th Street.

The Jay Shelp Community Theater at 2:00 p.m.

Time on the Trail from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Get outside and enjoy the new section of the recreational trail located by the Crossroads Pavillon Event Center. This walking event is for all ages.

Classic Car Cruise from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The parking lot is next to the Eagles Club #2297

Sheldon Eagles Club opens at 4:00 p.m. Meal will be served by Aerie Auxillary #2297. It is a free will offering.

Burnoout Contest (which is new this year). The parking lot is on old Highway 60 and will take place during the Classic Car Cruise. Proceeds will benefit the Sheldon Police Department and Sheldon Fire Department.

Monday, Sept. 2

Fly-In Pancake Breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Sheldon Regional Airport (3200 Northwest Blvd.)

Aircraft Display.

Arts and Crafts Show in the Park from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Sheldon City Park. Vendors are welcome.

Sheldon Prairie Museum open from 9:00 a.m. to noon and after the parade until 5:30 p.m.

Veteran’s Opening Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Join our local veterans for a memorial ceremony. This will take place at the Sheldon City Park at the Sheldon Armed Services Memorial.

Classic Car Show from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Pavillion Event Center.

Farmer’s Market from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the City Park

Food Booths from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Laser Tag/Inflateables/Tiny Tot Town from 10:00 a.m. to  2:00 p.m. and immediately after the parade until 4:30 p.m. on the west side of city park. Must have a wristband. Only $10 each.

Kids Craft. West side of city park. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Decorate and take your own reusable bag. While supplies last.
