3 events,The Iowa Department of Education, Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services, has finalized its policy for free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program and the Afterschool Care Snack Program. The full rules and regulations for those eligable for this benefit are below: Sheldon Girl Scout Troop 314 is having a Cookie Sale from February 1 through March 15. They will also have booth sales at Hy-Vee on February 14, 15, 21, and 22 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Cookie varieties include Adventurefuls, Caramel deLites, Exploremores, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thin Mints, Trefoils, and Caramel Chocolate Chip. The annual Melvin Fire Department breakfast is going on from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 at the Melvin American Legion Building. The department will be serving pancakes, sausages, omelets, coffee, juice, and milk. Dine in or carry out options will be available. A free will donation will be taken. All proceeds go to upgrading their equipment and gear. |

The 9th Annual Cornhole for a Cure tournament will be held Saturday, March 7 at the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center, 301 34th Avenue in Sheldon.
