The Iowa Department of Education, Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services, has finalized its policy for free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals served under the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program and the Afterschool Care Snack Program. Prairie Woods Nature Center will host a Charcuterie Board Make and Take on Monday, March 30, with sessions from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will personalize their own charcuterie board using Iowa‑sourced cherry wood and learn a wood‑burning technique using a pre‑selected stencil. Spots are limited and pre‑registration is required. Cost is $60 per board, and payment should be mailed in.
Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., it's Little Explorers at the Sheldon Public Library. Caregivers can bring children to play with a variety of toys. For ages 0–5.
The American Red Cross will hold a Sheldon Area Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 31 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church Fellowship Hall. Donors can schedule an appointment by calling 1‑800‑RED‑CROSS or by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering "SheldonIA." Those who give between March 30 and April 12 will receive an exclusive Red Cross x Life is Good T‑shirt while supplies last.
Registration opens Wednesday, April 1st for Outdoor Skills Day and the Intro to Shooting Camp, held June 11th at Sandy Hollow in Sioux Center. Sign up through Iowa State Extension and 4-H at go.iastate.edu/OUTDOOR26 or through the link on the PWNC website. Cost is $5 per participant.
