Charter Oak, Iowa (RI) — A reminder to be careful if you have to enter a grain bin. A western Iowa man died in a grain bin accident this past week.
A 9-1-1 call shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday indicated a man was trapped in a grain bin near Charter Oak. First responders from 16 local agencies arrived. Holes were cut in the bin, then grain was removed to get to the man inside. According to Crawford County Emergency Management, 83-year-old Robert Kroll of Charter Oak died at the scene.
